MPA 2013

The Metabolic Pathway Analysis 2013 will take place from the 16th to the 20th September 2013 at the Corpus Christi College in Oxford, UK.

Metabolic Pathway Analysis (MPA) 2013 will be the fourth meeting of that name, previous meetings having been held in 2011 in Chester2009 in Leiden, and in 2005 at the University of Jena.

The meeting has a primary focus on the structural (topological) analysis of metabolic networks, and in particular techniques allied to linear algebra, linear programming and computer modelling. This focus may be applied at many levels of abstraction, from individual reaction mechanisms, through pathways, organelles, whole organisms and, most recently, mixed populations.

The conference will address different aspects of Metabolic Pathway Analysis which include:

□               Thermodynamics in Metabolism (one day workshop on 16th September)

□               Design and Evolution of Metabolic Systems

□               Control and Regulation of Metabolism

□               Biotechnological Applications / Algal Biotechnology

Travel Grants for US-based Scientists to attend 2013 Metabolic Pathways Analysis Conference.

The National Science Foundation has funded a limited number of $1200 air travel assistance awards for US-based scientists to attend the 2013 Metabolic Pathways Analysis conference. The National Science Foundation would like to expand the attendance of US researchers at this conference. Attending US-based scientists are encouraged to apply; graduate students, post-doctoral associates, junior faculty and underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.  Air travel awards are restricted to US air carriers.

Application procedure:

Scientists wishing to be considered for a travel award should prepare a 1-2 page curriculum vitae and 1 page personal statement addressing 1) their interest in metabolic pathway analysis 2) their need for travel support and 3) how attending the conference will further their educational and professional goals.

Application material should be sent electronically to Dr. Ross Carlson (  Applications must be received by 15 August 2013. Awards will be selected by the 2013 MPA organizing committee and will be announced by 23 August 2013.

Awardees must show proof of conference registration before award disbursements will be made.

If you have any questions, please feel to contact Dr. Carlson via email or phone 406-994-3631.
